Quick Pickled Onions

Ingredients

1 cup water

1/2 cup white vinegar or apple cider vinegar

1 tbsp sugar

1 1/2 tsp salt

1 red onion, thinly sliced crosswise

4 garlic cloves, peeled, halved

Directions

  1. Add water, vinegar, sugar, and salt to a bowl. Stir until sugar and salt granules have completely dissolved.
  2. Add sliced red onion and garlic cloves.
  3. Set aside in the refrigerator or at room temperature for 1 hour.
  4. Store in refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

Note

Add to sandwiches, eggs, toast, meat, fish for an extra burst of flavor.
